Interview Tips

Interview Tips

We pride ourselves on our level of expertise in guiding our Candidates successfully through the interview process. We can help you prepare for the traditional interview questions you might encounter, or tackle modern-day psychometrics and competency based interviews. Here a few pointers:

  • Preparation. With the amount of freely available information on the internet there is no excuse for walking into an interview situation without knowing key information about your potential employer: financials, products, customers, locations, markets- this is the minimum level of research you need to do.

  • Compelling reasons. Acquire a strong sense of why you want this role and what it is about this company that makes you want to work for them. The more solid reasons you have for each of these, the better.

  • Provide examples. It's one thing to sit there and say that you are good at something, but providing examples of when and how you did good will go much further. Previous conduct is considered the best indicator of future performance, so be ready to quote examples that justify your claims.

  • Reasons for leaving. No matter what happened in your previous employment, or how badly you were treated, bitterness, however subtle, is not attractive and inadvisable in the extreme. Swallow your pride, say only nice things and soon you'll put it all behind you.

  • Timekeeping. While some employers might be tolerant and understanding if you are running late for your interview, we can safely say that arriving late can only weaken your chances, so why take the chance? Modern-day mapping, journey planning and navigation devices make it incredibly easy to get there on time. Plan the journey well in advance and add an hour - just to be on the safe side.
